Orlando City Soccer leaders tried to convince the Orlando City Council to approve $20 million to help build a new major league soccer stadium near downtown on Monday.
Orlando City SC President Phil Rawlins led the city through a Power Point presentation similar to one shown a few weeks ago to the Orange County Board of Commissioners.
Rawlins said the soccer club needs the money from the city and $20 million from Orange County in order to seal a deal with Major League Soccer to bring a pro team to Orlando.
Mayor Buddy Dyer and Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs have already come out in favor of giving the team the money. Now, they're urging their fellow council members and commissioners to approve it.
No vote was taken at Monday's meeting. Any vote from the county or the city is still weeks away. Reported by Click Orlando 23 hours ago.
