A child was bitten by a dog Thursday morning outside an Orlando elementary school, according to school officials.

The incident occurred as children were arriving to Pinewood Elementary School at 3005 North Apopka Vineland Road.

The student, whose age has not been released, was taken to a hospital with minor injuries and to receive a tetanus shot, officials said.

The dog was "contained" on a field at the school, according to officials, who said that Animal Control was called to take the animal away.

The school was placed on modified lockdown because of the incident.

No other details, including the type of dog involved in the attack, were immediately released.
